Freeman’s Alley
Went to Freemans with my friends, Jules and Jesse, this weekend. What a discovery! Although, this secret gem has been around since 2004. The idea was to create a “rugged clandestine colonial American Tavern" and has apparently inspired some of the rustic chic look that is charming everyone into drinking whiskey and making out by the hearth’s edge in Brooklyn.
This exceedingly low-profile restaurant materialized at the end of a nondescript Lower East Side alley … Persevere, and you’ll discover a taxidermist’s dream of a dining room, specialty cocktails, and a homespun American menu tinged with the occasional Anglo accent, like devils on horseback and summer pudding. - NY magazine
